PS5 Console Breaks Completely Due To Storage Glitch | Screen Rant

The unthinkable has happened for unsuspecting YouTuber ACG, as his PlayStation 5 review unit has unexpectedly broken completely due to a bizarre storage glitch, leaving only a heavy, white-and-black brick where a next-gen gaming machine once existed. With launch day bringing the first consumer shipments of Sony consoles to players’ doors in select November 12 launch countries, this is every early PS5 adopter’s worst nightmare come true, and it could be a very ill omen.

Despite being the hottest (hopefully not literally) item of the Holiday 2020 season, the lead-up to PS5’s first launch wave tomorrow has not been a completely smooth one. A notorious next-gen pre-order fiasco amid the COVID-19 pandemic was the result of stunted supply lines, shortages, and customers’ inability to pick up a...

The dawn of a new generation: PS5 is almost here – PlayStation.Blog

What a year. I want to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for cheering us on and keeping us honest. I know I speak for all of Sony Interactive Entertainment when I say that you are at the very center of everything we make and do here.

Sony confirms the PS5 won’t support SSD storage expansion at launch – The Verge

Sony says its PlayStation 5 can load virtual worlds far faster than ever before, thanks to one of the fastest solid-state drives ever made — but it’s also not a particularly big drive. Sony has confirmed to The Verge that you won’t be able to expand that blazing-fast SSD storage on day one.

While the PS5 features a dedicated internal slot that can theoretically fit standard stick-shaped M.2 SSDs and an easy way to access it, the slot will apparently be disabled out of the box. “[T]his is reserved for a future update,” Sony tells The Verge.

If you’ve been paying close attention to PS5 news, this won’t be a big surprise. PlayStation hardware architect Mark Cerny spent several minutes talking up the SSD storage expansion feature as part of his technical preview back in March, bu...

PS5 Consoles Not Available For Purchase In Stores At Launch

Sony has announced that PS5 consoles won’t be available to purchase in stores on launch day, due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19. The PS5 and Xbox Series X are releasing under some of the worst conditions possible, especially now that more lockdowns are being enforced around the world.

The PS5 and Xbox Series X pre-orders have been thrown into chaos, as it’s no longer safe to go out and physically buy them in stores. Shops in the UK have already been making special arrangements for store collection on launch day. This problem has been exacerbated on the PS5 side by a disastrous pre-order situation that led to the initial stock being bought up by scalpers and thrown on eBay for inflated prices. Sony has apologized for this situation but hasn’t done anything to rectify it, nor have a...
